Prisoners from across the UK will show works alongside artists such as Jeremy Deller and Cornelia Parker in an exhibition held at Sotheby’s London (9-10 May). The postcards, designed by detainees and big-name practitioners, will be up for grabs at a swanky fundraising event to be held at the auction house on 10 May, hosted by the Welsh actor Griff Rhys Jones. Ticket holders at the event (£100 per entry) will have a one-in-four chance of winning a postcard, says a press statement (or you can purchase a lottery ticket for £50 via www.koestlertrust.org.uk/events). Proceeds from the Postcards from Prison initiative go towards the Koestler Trust, a prison arts charity. “Having donations from such high-profile artists is wonderful and we’ve been blown away by the amazing works by prisoners. It is difficult to distinguish between them,” says Sally Taylor, the chief executive of the Koestler Trust.
