The National Archaeological Museum in Naples has sent a 2m-tall red-figure Apulian krater from its collection for conservation and temporary display at the Getty Villa in Los Angeles. The vase was produced in Taranto in around 350BC and depicts more than 20 mythological gods and heroes of the underworld, including Hades, Persephone, Orpheus and Herakles. The project, which is supported by the Getty’s Villa Council, renews the cultural exchange agreement signed by the Italian culture ministry and the J. Paul Getty Museum in 2007.
