Assemble, the architecture collective who won Britain’s prestigious Turner Prize in December, are planning to revitalise an exit at the Seven Sisters underground station in north London this summer. The group is considering a number of options for the space in the tube station, which is above ground and includes an empty commercial unit. One proposal is to turn this outbuilding into a workshop to produce clay tiles. “We’re looking at building on the character of the site… and bringing the commercial unit back into use,” says Assemble’s Matthew Leung. The initiative is part of a project celebrating the Victoria line organised by Art on the Underground. Other participating artists include Matt Rogers, whose music commission will be performed live by members of the London Sinfonietta orchestra in stations this spring.
