The Carracci gallery at the Palazzo Farnese, which is home to the French embassy in Rome, was unveiled in September after an 18-month restoration. The 600 sq. m fresco cycle depicting the Loves of the Gods—painted by Annibale and Agostino Carracci and their students between 1597 and 1608—was restored in its entirety for the first time. The €1m project to consolidate the ceiling and clean the decorations was funded by the World Monuments Fund (€800,000) and the Italian culture ministry (€200,000).
