Very little progress was made at the last meeting of the Russian Parliament in early June to discuss the possible change in law on the status of works of art and objects now in the Russian Federation as a result of World War II (see The Art Newspaper, No. 48, May 1995, p.4).
Proceedings were further complicated by the presentation at very short notice of a new document by Culture Minister Yvgeny Sidorov prepared by experts at the Academic Institute of Art and Law which proposed a variant of the draft law.
