A little bit of France has come to Tokyo. Maison Ruinart—the world’s oldest champagne maker—has invited Japan-born, Paris-based artist Tadashi Kawamata to create a work for Art Week Tokyo.

Conversations with Nature 2026 will take place in Ruinart’s pop-up champagne and art bar in Daikanyama. Kawamata is known for site-specific installations made of wood and furniture parts. For this work he visited Ruinart’s vineyard near Reims, making works in response to what he felt there—the morning mist, the wind, the birds and insects.

The three installations he created “ask us to reconsider the relationship between nature and humanity”, according to a statement.
