Visitors may soon come across the Mona Lisa while rifling through the racks at some of their favourite stores in France. In a new partnership, the retail giant Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield and the Musée du Louvre have launched Louvre au centre, a touring exhibition featuring large-scale reproductions of famous works such as Leonardo’s smiling woman and the selfie-friendly sculpture, Borghese Gladiator. Happy shoppers can take part in workshops and games—don’t miss the photobooths that transform participants into Louvre characters.
The tour takes in six Westfield shopping centres across France at Dijon, Lyon, Paris, Rennes and Lille, having launched last month at Westfield Rosny 2 in Rosny-sous-Bois outside Paris. Laurence des Cars, the president and director of the Musée du Louvre, says: "Stimulating imagination and senses by introducing visitors to the richness of the Musée du Louvre 's collections, even in unexpected places, is one of our primary missions.” So who's up for some retail/art therapy?
