The UK artist Daniel Lismore, an eye-catching fixture on London’s art scene, describes himself on Instagram as a “living sculpture”, so there were high hopes for his 40th birthday bash earlier this month at the recently opened Modern Contemporary Museum (Moco) in London.

Lismore’s party drew around 500 guests from the worlds of art, fashion, music, politics and philanthropy, according to the artist’s spokesperson. The spokesperson also pointed out that everyone very much “embraced the evening’s dress code, ‘Your Favourite Art Movement’, arriving in dazzling interpretations of Surrealist dreams, Baroque masterpieces, Dadaist statements, and Pop Art icons”.

Luminaries in attendance included the pop star Boy George, the drag queen Jodie Harsh and the actress Tolula Adeyemi, who all hit the decks, showing off their DJing prowess. But the belle of the ball was Lismore—naturally—cutting a dash in an outfit resembling a picture frame, making him a masterpiece at his own soirée (which admirably raised funds for the Elton John Aids Foundation).
