One of the most impressive charity events in the art world calendar swings round again. Around 118 artists, including Frank Bowling, George Shaw, Rana Begum, Annie Morris and Mona Hatoum, have created works for the fifth edition of Cure3, a selling exhibition in aid of medical research into the degenerative neurological condition, Parkinson's.
The show takes place at Bonhams in London (until 5 February) and online at cure3.co.uk. Sales will go live online from 6pm, 3 February, with prices starting at under £1,000. A special early access sale has already raised £90,000.
All profits go directly to Cure Parkinson's, a UK charity working towards finding a cure for the condition, which affects an estimated 145,000 people in the UK and 8.5 million people worldwide.
Participating artists were, as usual, invited to create a unique sculptural work inside a Perspex box measuring 20cm3 or in a new two-dimensional format of 20cm x 20cm. For the second time, project organisers are also offering a range of newly commissioned NFTs, with contributing artists including Licia He and Florian Zumbrunn.
“When we started the Cure3 journey back in 2017, we could never have imagined that it would go on to five editions and be supported by over 200 artists, architects, fashion designers and creatives," say Artwise, the curatorial collective behind Cure3, in a statement.
