Pop icon Sir Elton John and his husband David Furnish will show a prime selection of works from their vast photography collection (7,000 works and counting) at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London this spring (Fragile Beauty, 18 May-5 January 2025), featuring pieces by stellar names such as Nan Goldin, Herb Ritts and Robert Adams. The collection’s director Newell Harbin gives a sneak peek into the celebrity couple’s collecting tastes in the latest V&A magazine, revealing that “on one of their first dates together, they flipped through Ritts’s monograph”. Harbin also highlighted how Elton and David display their art. “We had a joke in Atlanta [at their Georgia home] that you didn’t know the colour of the wallpaper because there were so many photos,” Harbin quipped.
