The Pérez Art Museum Miami has acquired a work for its permanent collection from the New Art Dealers Alliance’s (Nada) Miami fair. Jennifer Inacio, the associate curator, and Maritza Lacayo, the assistant curator, picked a photograph by the New York-based artist Camila Falquez, Samantha Siagama, Trans-Indigenous Leader (2023), from Hannah Traore Gallery’s stand. The work’s subject is a coffee picker and activist in Colombia who leads a group of trans women exiled from the Emberá Indigenous community because of their gender identities.
