I am pleased to announce today that, following ten years of my ownership, we have concluded the transaction for the sale of The Art Newspaper to AMTD Group.
Under the terms of our agreement, made in discussion with the main shareholder and Chairman of AMTD, Calvin Choi, The Art Newspaper Group, which includes The Art Newspaper International (London and New York) and The Art Newspaper (France), will be wholly owned by the AMTD Group.

The Art Newspaper, founded by Umberto Allemandi, is a globally respected media brand operating across multiple platforms which has become an integral and indispensable part of the international art world.
The past ten years have been an amazing and exciting time for me. I have enjoyed watching the business go from strength to strength. I am happy in the knowledge that, under Calvin Choi’s leadership, AMTD is committed to the continuity of The Art Newspaper’s current model, with the focus on growing the digital side and brand’s geographical presence.
I will remain as a special adviser to the newly-formed Board of The Art Newspaper, in order to ensure a smooth transition. And now, with a bit more time on my hands, I will focus on the organisation of my personal art collection, as well as developing my new project, TAEX, the curated market place for digital art.
