There was no mistaking who sponsored the Royal Academy of Arts’ Summer Exhibition party this year. The annual bash, which took place last month, is a highlight of London’s summer art calendar and thanks to Axel Rüger, the secretary and chief executive of the Royal Academy, we were able to gain insights into the high-profile event via his colourful Instagram posts.
Rüger’s eye-popping chequered tweed suit was all over his social media feed with messages such as: “The wonderful evening of our Summer Exhibition preview party has been greatly sponsored by Burberry—for which a big thank you!” It helps, of course, if you’re wearing Burberry (famous for its checks and macs) threads—and the very dapper Rüger was happy to oblige. Other distractions on the evening included a top-notch performance by the Norwegian singer Sigrid, who wowed the arty crowd.
