While Frieze had to cancel its plans for an outdoor sculpture show in Beverly Gardens Park due to shipping delays and labour shortages caused by Covid-19, that did not stop the fair organisers or galleries from showing monumental works in and around the tent. Large-scale sculptures, mural-sized paintings and hanging installations could be spotted throughout the fair and in the grounds of the Beverly Hilton Hotel, from Woody De Othello’s Fountain (2021), welcoming visitors outside the main entrance, to Chris Burden’s Dreamer’s Folly (2010) on Gagosian’s stand, which sold on the VIP preview day. Here are some of our picks of the most eye-catching work to look out for at Frieze Los Angeles this year.
