An immersive offering by the artist Ryan McNamara will be among the highlights of the fifth annual Fire Island Performance Festival (2-4 August), a free public event held by the non-profit experimental art organisation BOFFO in the historically LGBTQ community on Long Island. The theme of this year's festival is “Dancing With Adversity” and it has been organised in collaboration with OCDChinatown, a space for queer sound, image, object, movement and thought in New York City. In addition to McNamara, who performs Saturday night, the lineup includes the peripatetic Young Boy Dancing Group in its US debut; Bichon, the drag persona of the textile designer and musician Karlo Bueno Bello; the producer, harpist, dancer and vocalist ELSZ; the drag queen and artist West Dakota; the artist Sebastian Hernandez; and the art collective Papi Juice, among others.
