Pop megastar Beyoncé has her sights set on a project at the Colosseum in Rome. The Italian newspaper Il Messaggero reports that the Crazy in Love star submitted a request to film in the Roman landmark on 7 and 8 July but was politely rejected by the Italian Ministry of Culture (the Italian scientist Alberto Angela apparently booked the slot, snubbing Queen Bey). The Single Ladies singer is unperturbed though and has reportedly put in a new filming request (the Carters could not be reached for comment). Beyoncé is obviously keen to explore Europe's top cultural attractions. Last month both she and Jay-Z took their love story to the Louvre Museum for the video Apeshit. The striking video injects Blackness into the white, European and colonial space of the Parisian museum. Some of the Louvre’s most famous works make appearances, including Géricault’s The Raft of the Medusa (1818-19), The Winged Victory of Samothrace (190 B.C.), Veronese’s The Wedding at Cana (1563) and Ary Scheffer’s Francesca da Rimini and Paolo Malatesta Appraised by Dante and Virgil (1835), zooming in on Francesca’s tears.
