Drive down the highways of Abu Dhabi and your radio will pick up signals from the vast billboards with works of art currently on show in the Louvre Abu Dhabi and give you a short talk about them. There are queues of locals to get into the museum that, ten years ago, sceptical westerners said would only interest the tourists. How has this come about?

On 1 March, Anna Somers Cocks, founder-editor and chairman of The Art Newspaper, and Roxane Zand, deputy chairman for the Middle East and Gulf Region, Sotheby’s, are giving their insights into the rapidly developing structure and patronage of museums in the Middle East. Boon Hui Tan, vice president of global arts and cultural programmes and director of the Asia Society Museum, will moderate the conversation.

6.00pm-7:30pm, members $12; student/seniors $15; non-members $20

Asia Society, 725 Park Avenue, New York, NY 10021
