Join the orgy at Frieze Masters

There is a flurry of photography going on at Frieze Masters in front of Hauser & Wirth’s front-of-stand work Triptych IV, Fucking Painting (1967-68), a grisaille of a softish porn orgy by Richard Artschwager that sold yesterday for $2.8m. The title has a double meaning: the obvious one, and then an expression of the reality when the US artist made it—painting was deeply unacceptable to the avant-garde, but Artschwager was doing it anyway. For a really louche orgy, go to the Collections section, organised by Norman Rosenthal, the former exhibitions secretary of the Royal Academy of Arts. On Israel Goldman’s stand, you’ll see a Japanese scroll painting by Kawanabe Kyosai from 1864 (priced £11,000), of monks having it off energetically with male novices.
