A sample of the Louvre Abu Dhabi collection

When Louvre Abu Dhabi opens in November, about 300 works of art from the permanent collection will be on display, together with another 300 lent by 13 key French institutions.

These loans will include Leonardo da Vinci’s La Belle Ferronnière from the Louvre, Edouard Manet’s The Fife Player from the Muséed’Orsay, and Rodin's Bacchus in the Vat from the Musée Rodin.

The museum's permanent collection was founded in 2009 with the auction of Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Bergé’s collection in Paris—its great Mondrian is from that sale. By October 2016, more than 600 works of art had been acquired. Here is a selection of highlights.
