The Centre Pompidou in Paris reopened on 7 April after 12 consecutive days of strikes by front-of-house, security and administrative staff over a recruitment process reform. The new measures, introduced by the French government last year, were due to come into force on 1 April, changing the status of museum employees from salaried contract workers to civil servants and resulting in a salary decrease of 20% to 30%. An agreement allowing employees to choose their status with no cut in pay was eventually reached. The Musée Rodin was also closed for two days at the end of March as visitor services and security staff went on strike over working conditions.
