Attendance dips at big UK museums

Attendance at national museums across the UK fell 6.2% last year, according to a report by the Department of Culture, Media and Sport. Fifteen government-funded museums, including the National Gallery in London and Tate’s four venues, together drew 47.6 million visitors in 2015/16, down from 50.7 million in 2014/15. But it was not all bad news. The report shows that attendance increased at the British Museum—the UK’s most popular museum—as well as at the Victoria and Albert Museum, National Museums Liverpool, Royal Museums Greenwich and the National Portrait Gallery.
