The Centre Pompidou in Paris makes its long-awaited Chinese debut today with an exhibition at the Shanghai Exhibition Center (Masterpieces from the Centre Pompidou 1906-1977, 7 October-January 15 2017). The show traces the development of French art from Fauvism in the early 20th century to the opening of the Centre Pompidou in 1977. It includes work by Picasso, Duchamp and other blockbuster names. The Paris museum, which is known for organising pop-ups around the world, first sought to open a branch in China in 2007.
