The Indiana State Museum in Indianapolis is seeking a professional portrait artist to immortalise Mike Pence, the state’s current governor and Donald Trump’s running mate. The portrayal of Pence—whose term is up in January, whether or not he goes on to Washington, DC as the vice president of the United States—will join the Governors’ Portraits collection, housed at the museum. Though the museum is organising the tender, the commission and framing of the work will be privately funded. To keep in touch with the state spirit, candidates must hail from Indiana or have attended a college or university in the state. Potential portraitists have until 23 September to apply, and the artist will be chosen by the end of October. The portrait sitting will most likely begin in mid-November, while Pence is still in office as the governor. The work is expected to be unveiled in the summer of 2017.
