The galleries • Hauser Wirth & Schimmel has hired two new directors: Courtney Treut, a former director at Anton Kern Gallery, and Vanessa Guo, formerly Christie’s head of business development in China.

• The New York-based Garis & Hahn Gallery is relocating to Los Angeles with a view to opening an exhibition space in early 2017.

• January 2017 will see Dominique Levy expand its New York space to occupy the entirety of 909 Madison Avenue, where it has resided since 2013. Galerie Perrotin, which has been sharing the building, is relocating to the city’s trendy Lower East Side, on 130 Orchard Street, where its new space will occupy 25,000 sq. ft—eight times the size of its current home.

• Lehmann Maupin is opening a third gallery in New York, on the corner of 24th Street and 10th Avenue, Chelsea, the former home of the Getty Gas Station.

• Allouche Gallery is relocating from Soho to New York’s Meatpacking District, on 82 Gansevoort Street, across the street from the Whitney Museum of American Art.

• Almine Rech Gallery is opening a space in New York, on East 78th Street, on the Upper East Side, with an inaugural exhibition entitled Calder and Picasso, which is scheduled for October.

• Skarstedt is relocating from London’s Old Bond Street to 8 Bennet Street, in nearby St James’s. The gallery is scheduled to open on 1 October with a Cindy Sherman and David Salle show.

• Sullivan+Strumpf is opening a new gallery space in Singapore’s Gillman Barracks. It is the first Australian gallery to establish a presence in Asia.

• The Parisian gallery Kamel Mennour has opened a third space in the French capital, at 28 Avenue Matignon, just above the Champs Elysées, in the 8th arrondissment.

• The Turkish gallery Dirimart has opened its second space in Istanbul, in the Dolapdere area. At 1,000 sq. m, it is the largest commercial art space in the country. Its inaugural exhibition runs until 31 July.

The auction houses • After more than 30 years in the auction business, Philippe Garner, the deputy chairman of 20th-century decorative art, design and photographs at Christie’s, is to retire.

• Alex Rotter, the former co-head of contemporary art at Sotheby’s will join Christie’s, in March 2017, as the chairman of post-war and contemporary art for the Americas.

• Phillips is expanding its business development in Asia. It has recruited Sandy Ma as head of its Hong Kong evening sale; she is a specialist in Asian 20th-century and contemporary art. The firm has also hired Jane Yoon as an international specialist and director of Korea, and Annie Tang as senior administrator for the 20th century and contemporary art department and the business development team.

The firms • The UK-based online marketplace Rise Art has bought the Irish start-up Artfetch, which represents more than 70 artists worldwide.

Artist moves • Berlin’s Tanya Leighton Gallery now represents the veteran German painter and photographer Marianne Wex.

 • David Zwirner now represents the Connecticut-based Josef and Anni Albers Foundation, as well as the American photographer William Eggleston.

• Van Doren Waxter, in New York’s Upper East Side, now represents the estate of the American abstract painter Harvey Quaytman.

• Marlborough Gallery has added the South African-born, US-based painter Peter Sacks to its roster of artists.

• Ronchini Gallery now represents the photographer Massimo Vitali.
