Centre Pompidou doubles down on China

The Centre Pompidou in Paris is making in-roads into the contemporary art scene in China with the recent appointment of Yung Ma as curator. Yung, previously the associate curator at the M+ museum in Hong Kong, “will focus on developing an in-depth knowledge of different movements, as well as identifying outstanding young artists, from Greater China”, a Pompidou spokeswoman says. The three-year appointment is part of a cultural partnership established last year between the Hong Kong-based billionaire Adrian Cheng’s K11 Art Foundation and the Centre Pompidou to promote contemporary Chinese art in France.
