Reg Grundy, the Australian television producer who died last month, was the genius who created the long-running soap Neighbours, giving Scott and Charlene—A.K.A. Kylie and Jason—to the world. But let’s not forget that Grundy made art market history in 2013, when a sale of 89 works from his collection of Modern and contemporary Australian art fetched A$19.2m ($13.8m) at Bonhams in Sydney, making it the most valuable single-owner Antipodean collection ever to go under the hammer in Oz (84% sold by lot, with records set for 12 artists including Margaret Preston). Bonhams declined to say if further sales of works from Grundy’s collection are planned.
