First there were art fairs, then came art hotels, which are springing up in hot spots worldwide at an equally alarming rate. The latest comes courtesy of the entrepreneur Lio Malca, who recently launched Casa Malca on the Yucatán peninsula in the Gulf of Mexico. The lavish beachside resort has 35 suites and rooms awash with works from Malca’s collection, by artists such as Vik Muniz, Keith Haring and George Condo. Last year, the art buff converted a vast former salt warehouse in Ibiza into an 8,000 sq. ft gallery called La Nave, and he also shows works from his collection in a private gallery space in New York.
