The interior of the first spaceship to put humans on the moon will be available on your smartphone this summer. A 3D digitisation team at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, DC, is scanning the inside of the Apollo 11 command module, where the three-man crew of Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins spent most of their time during the 1969 space flight that carried out the first manned lunar landing. The module was the only portion of the spacecraft to return to Earth, and was transferred to the Smithsonian in 1970. The 3D team, which initially scanned the module in December, plans to carry out a second, final scan this month.
