The wife of the psychedelic painter Peter Max has sued his son over $4.3m in art that the artist allegedly gave her in a prenuptial agreement, along with $5m in damages. The suit, which was filed in December, concerns 85 paintings and the latest episode in a long court battle between the painter’s wife Mary, 48, and his son Adam, 51, over the work of the 78-year-old artist, who is said to suffer from dementia.
