Canvas magazine, the bi-monthly publication covering art and culture in the Middle East, has a new editor. Mahnaz Fancy joins the magazine after almost three years as the executive director of ArteEast, a New York-based non-profit dedicated to promoting and supporting artists from the Middle East and North Africa. Fancy, who has a doctorate from the University of Chicago, says that her priorities include “leveraging my experience working in the U.S to continue developing Canvas's content and reach by engaging a wider community of art professionals and collectors”. Mixed Media Publishing, the company that publishes Canvas, was founded in 2004 by Ali Khadra, who incidentally, was once a bigwig in the airline catering industry.
