Sweet smell of revenge as Bourriaud bounces back

The French curator Nicolas Bourriaud is obviously delighted after landing a plum new post as head of La Panacée, a vast new contemporary art centre that is due to open in Montpellier in 2019. Fleur Pellerin, France’s culture secretary, dismissed Bourriaud last July as head of the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris. After bagging the new post, Bourriaud took to Facebook, highlighting a piece in the Italian web journal Artribune.com that carried the headline: “The revenge of Bourriaud”. The scholar told his Facebook friends: “I would not talk about ‘revenge’… but nice article.” Ms Pellerin is not listed as one of his Facebook chums.
