The British Museum is planning a new gallery dedicated to China, scheduled to open in late 2017. Although the museum has yet to make a formal announcement, it is hiring a project curator to assist with the research and redisplay of its Chinese collections, especially ceramics and decorative arts. The British Museum’s temporary exhibitions of Chinese art and artefacts have tended to overshadow the displays in room 33, part of the Joseph E. Hotung Gallery.
