The world has gone Frank Stella crazy, with acres of newsprint devoted to the US artist’s retrospective at the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York (until 7 March). But as Art in America magazine points out, “these monumental—not to mention monumentally pricey—works don’t fit easily into most people’s homes, let alone the average New York apartment.” The esteemed journal has subsequently teamed up with Artspace to produce The Mesh Canvas, a limited edition needlepoint kit that will allow Frank fans “to create and display their own Frank Stella throw pillows”. The cushion designs, ideal for Christmas, are based on two paintings from Stella's 1961 series Concentric Square (the princely sum of £332 gets you two needlepoint canvases and some Merino wool thread).
