New Orleans is making the most of its French roots with the second year of LUNA (Light Up NOLA Arts) Fête, an outdoor light installation festival inspired by the annual Fête des Lumières in Lyons. Running from 29 November to 5 December, the festival “adds another element of holiday celebration in New Orleans”, Mitch Landrieu, the city’s mayor, said in a statement. Contemporary light and motion graphics works by local and international artists will installed in historic areas, including Jen Lewin’s The Pool, an interactive piece with concentric circles modified by visitors’ movement, at Lafayette Square. And on 4 and 5 December at the Contemporary Arts Center New Orleans, the artist Miwa Matreyek will stage two performance pieces that use her shadow, Myth and Infastructure and This World Made Itself. LUNA Fête is organised by the Arts Council New Orleans, and its sponsors include the National Endowment for the Arts and Ochsner Health System.
