Many of Sweden’s state-run museums will go free from 2016, thanks to a reform passed by the Social Democratic government on 21 September. The government has allotted 80 million Swedish krona (€8.5m) to enable 17 museums, including the Moderna Museet in Malmö and Stockholm, to drop their fees. Entry for one adult currently ranges from 40 SEK (€4.3) to 150 SEK (€16). The Social Democrats first introduced free entrance in 2005, but the conservative government withdrew the reform when it came to power the following year.
