Basel Abbas and Ruanne Abou-Rahme, the Palestine- and US-based artists, have won the eighth edition of the Abraaj Group Art Prize, the organisers announced today. The pair, whose work incorporates sound, images, text and performance, will receive $100,000 and create a work for Art Dubai (16-19 March 2016), in an exhibition organised by Nav Haq, a curator at the Museum of Contemporary Art Antwerp (M KHA). The three shortlisted artists, who receive $10,000 each and will also have work featured in the show, are Pakistan’s Basir Mahmood, and Dina Danish and Mahmoud Khaled, both from Egypt. Abbas and Abou-Rahme’s work is currently on view at the Carroll/Fletcher gallery in London (until 24 October).
