A new app wants to transform the snapshots you take of your dog, your new haircut and your lunch into a work of durational performance art. The project, called Minutiae, is a collaboration between an artist, a photographer and a designer who met through the New Museum’s art and tech incubator, New Inc, in New York. The app prompts users to take a picture of whatever they are doing at a randomised minute every day for 1,440 days. At the end of the four-year term, participants will be given a hardbound album of their photographs. The albums will be offered as a limited edition of 100 for $1,440 each (there is also a free version that does not include a personalised album). Minutiae’s co-founder Daniel Wilson describes the project as “a means of freedom through constraint”.
