What does the artist Jeremy Deller have to do with Abraham Maslow, the psychologist who argued that “a first-rate soup is more creative than a second-rate painting”? London art fans can find out on Saturday, 26 September, at the House of St Barnabas, the Soho members’ club/homelessness charity where Deller will be presenting his 2010 film So Many Ways to Hurt You (The Life and Times of Adrian Street) and taking questions from the former ICA director Ekow Eshun. Deller’s documentary on how Adrian Street left a Welsh coal-mining town to become a glam pro-wrestler is being screened as part of Art Social, the House’s festival, curated (by Eshun, among others) around the theme of Maslow’s pyramid of needs, the theory that humans reach their full potential through creativity. Events including workshops, talks and performances will run until Sunday, 27 September.
