Bring your blanket as Ai and Kapoor take to the streets

The artists Ai Weiwei and Anish Kapoor finally got to meet in person on Saturday in London. In what was a true meeting of minds, they decided to show their support for the millions of people who are refugees worldwide. So they plan to walk from the Royal Academy of Arts in London’s West End and head east through the City of London and multicultural Brick Lane on to Stratford, around seven miles in total. The artists will be carrying a blanket and have invited Londoners to join them, bringing their own, in a symbolic protest against those building fences to keep refugees out instead of providing a safe haven as winter approaches. The walk starts at 10am on Thursday 17 September. In a joint message via social media, Ai and Kapoor said that the action will be repeated in cities across the world over the next few months.
