Antony Gormley’s nude statues perched atop buildings are due to be installed in Hong Kong this November, the South China Morning Post reports, more than a year after their display was cancelled following a banker’s suicide in the city.
Entitled Event Horizon, the series of self-modelled iron and fibreglass sculptures have already been seen in London, New York, Rotterdam and São Paulo. But a planned exhibition in Hong Kong in May 2014 was abruptly ended when the sponsor, the developer Hongkong Land, pulled it support after an employee at the JP Morgan investment bank jumped to his death from one of its buildings.
Hongkong Land will not participate in the installation this time around, according to the South China Morning Post, with other Central Hong Kong landlords expected to step in to host the sculptures, including “some of Hong Kong’s most iconic public buildings”. Exact locations are due to be announced in September.
