To bee or not to bee?

The UK’s pavilion at this year’s Milan Expo could end up at the Royal Botanic Gardens in Kew. The £7m pavilion, designed by the Nottingham-based artist Wolfgang Buttress, invites visitors to “follow the dance of a bee, travelling through a series of landscapes”. Visitors meander into a wildflower meadow and then climb into a giant aluminium structure, which is based on the concept of a beehive and features the buzzing sounds of bees, transmitted live from Nottingham. The pavilion will be dismantled when the Expo closes in October and could be brought back to an appropriate site in the UK. Talks with potential venues have just started, and Kew is a frontrunner in the race.
