The emerging French artist Camille Blatrix is keeping it in the family for his exhibition (No School, 18 July-1 November) at Mostyn gallery in Llandudno, Wales. For his first UK show, Blatrix has invited his ceramicist mother and his father, a former artist, to exhibit alongside him. “The show is about parental influence, and Blatrix’s visit to Llandudno during a rainy period. The trip conjured up nostalgic childhood memories of visiting family [members] in small towns, and was the genesis of the exhibition, which loosely refers to the movie Ferris Bueller’s Day Off,” says a spokesman for the gallery. Let’s hope mum and dad don’t put Camille on the naughty step during the show.
