The thaw in Cuba-US cultural relations continues with a symposium held in Havana, the first such event in 50 years. Speakers discussed hot topics including Pop art and feminism. Wild Noise: Art in Times of Change, took place atthe Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes on Thursday, 18 June. Organised by the Bronx Museum of Art in New York and supported by the Chicago-based Terra Foundation of American Art, the day-long event aimed to build bridges between the Cold War-era adversaries. Among the subjects covered were the rise of the feminist movement in the US from the 1960s and the work of artists such as Ana Mendieta. US Pop art and its leading figures including Andy Warhol were also discussed.
