The Olympia International Arts and Antiques Fair goes contemporary

The Olympia International Arts and Antiques Fair (18-28 June) is not usually known for cutting edge contemporary art. However, this year, Thomas Woodham-Smith, the former managing director of the antique dealers Mallett and the founder of London’s Masterpiece fair (25 June - 1 July), is bringing a vast array of art and design from the 17th century to the present day, including work by contemporary artists Simon Hitchens, Ben Hooper, and Marcus Tremonto.

One of the contemporary pieces for sale is Hitchens’ video Genesis (2014), which has the distinction of being the first video work to be presented at the fair. The piece, which explores the relationship between the human and the natural worlds, is priced at £15,000 and will be sure to stand out among the many antiques on show when the event opens to the public on 18 June.
