Street artists show little love for Hillary

While street artists such as Shepard Fairey actively championed President Barack Obama during his 2008 election campaign, several artists are taking a decidedly less flattering stance toward the 2016 Democratic candidate, Hillary Rodham Clinton.

The Los Angeles based guerilla artist Sabo, whose is politically conservative, has made anti-Hillary bus shelter posters. The artist has parodied the HBO series Game of Thrones by taking its slogan “All Men Must Die” and inserting it underneath Clinton’s official campaign logo. Just before Clinton made a fundraising trip to Los Angeles last month, unnamed artists made oversized pine-tree air fresheners that read “Hillary Stinks” and “Stench of Corruption”. According to Sabo, who posted pictures of the cutouts hanging from trees, wires and stoplights on his Facebook page, “some buddies” of his were behind the stunt.

Meanwhile, in Brooklyn Heights—where Clinton’s campaign office is based—black and white posters have been plastered over the neighbourhood that read “Don’t say… secretive” or “Don’t say… entitled”.

The Clinton campaign itself is taking a more crafts-based approach. It has launched a range of Hillary memorabilia for sale on its website from pint glasses costing $25 for a pair to needlepoint pillows which, at $55, spell out “A Woman’s Place is in the White House”.
