Fedor Rückert may be less well known than Peter Carl Fabergé, but the Russian silversmith and enameller often worked with his more famous counterpart, making jewelled silver to be sold under the Fabergé name. A gilt-silver, cloisonné and mother-of-pearl coffee pot (1896-1908) bearing Rückert’s mark is coming to auction at Doyle, New York, where it is estimated to sell for between $40,000 and $50,000. In October 2014, a gilt-silver and shaded enamel Easter egg (1908-17) by Rückert sold at Sotheby’s in New York for $43,750, almost five times its high estimate of $7,000 to $9,000. But the record for a work by Rückert was set by the same house in 2010, when a gilt-silver and enamel drinking vessel (1900) sold for $518,500 (est $200,000-$300,000).
