Have you ever wanted to spend the night in the Hayward Gallery in London, dozing in a pair of robotic beds that roam the Southbank Centre venue? Carsten Höller invites intrepid art lovers to tuck up in twin beds that will move around the Belgian artist's immersive works on show in the Decision exhibition (10 June-6 September). The organisers explain how the Two Roaming Beds (Grey) will slowly glide around the lower galleries, saying: “The beds are programmed to move in relationship to one another using a range of navigational systems. While a laser on the front of each of the beds sweeps the floor, searching for obstacles as it moves, radio beacons set in the gallery’s ceiling help the beds determine their relationship to one another and their position within the gallery.” The beds are bookable for one or two persons from Monday to Saturday for the duration of the exhibition (just don’t have nightmares).
