The first day of a major art fair is always a good chance to do some celebrity spotting, and Frieze New York did not disappoint. Among the Hollywood stars to visit Randall’s Island on Wednesday were Leonardo DiCaprio, Richard Gere, Uma Thurman, Neil Patrick Harris and Mike Myers.

There was also a strong showing of well known figures from the museum world, including Richard Armstrong, the director of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, Massimiliano Gioni, artistic director at the New Museum, Joanne Heyler, the director of the Broad Museum, Los Angeles, Nicholas Serota, the director of Tate, Chris Dercon, the director of Tate Modern, and Hans Ulrich Obrist, the director of international projects at the Serpentine Gallery, London. Art collectors were also out in force: Dakis Joannou, Don and Mera Rubell and François Pinault along with notable artists such as Chuck Close, Grayson Perry and Maurizio Cattelan.
