When one hideous statue of Lucille Ball just isn't enough

The artist Dave Poulin has offered to create a new sculpture of Lucille Ball for the town of Celoron in New York state—and he can’t do worse than his previous attempt, a hideous bronze that became known as “Scary Lucy” after it was unveiled in the late comedian’s hometown in 2009. “I take full responsibility for Scary Lucy, though by no means was that my intent. Nor did I wish to disparage the memories of the iconic Lucy image,” Poulin wrote in a letter to the Hollywood Reporter. He has offered “to remove the statue with the promise of creating a new, beautiful and charming Lucy in its place”, but Scott Schrecengost, the mayor of Celeron, is not convinced—he reportedly wants another artist to have a go.
