A Chinese government official has been removed from his post after accepting bribes to further his artistic career. Qin Yuhai, who was the deputy head of the standing committee for China’s provincial people’s congress of Henan Province, took bribes including Rmb5.8m ($934,000) from an unnamed, Beijing-based image production company, according to the Xinhua newspaper. The company offered to publish Qin’s photography and to help stage solo exhibitions of his work in Europe in exchange for an advertising contract.
